LifeLink

Week 1
We were given an introduction to the class, as well as an outline of MIB and the semester's assignment. We were then told to create groups and select a topic from the various alternatives, which we eventually picked to work with UWB. Mr Mike also discussed Empathy and Design Thinking to help us move forward with our planned advancement for the next week. This was especially useful throughout the week when we had to come up with product ideas on our own.

Week 2
We continued our contextual research this week, and we were asked to come up with more product design concepts because there isn't a lot of information online concerning mechanical devices that would actually assist patients or those at risk of falling in getting up after a fall. We began with many concepts and progressed

Week 3
This week, we were able to hear the presentations from UWB students. We were urged to divide onto groups of 5 not groups of 7 because the product's goal had changed. We redrew the categories and moved on to the following stage of our project: creating user personas.

Week 4
This week I focused on making the interview questions.

Week 5
We had a virtual meeting with UWB students this week to demonstrate our work and affirm the features, functionality, and other components of the product that will influence our design work in the future. We were ready to interview the nursing home residents.

Week 6
We did our interview at an old people's home. We were met with a doctor who is also the head director and is knowledgeable about our topic. I had some insights about elders and their daily issues. I learned that senior people living with dementia have difficulties accomplishing certain things and that this discovery can be applied as a guideline to design the gadget.

Week 7
Based on the interview we did, Mr Mike assigned us to do more interviews that matches the personas we’ve created so we asked people that fits on to our personas.

Week 8
I waited for the final art direction from Clay’s design to construct the design before I went looking for moodboards to use for additional branding designs.

Week 9
Clay's art direction along with logo concepts were displayed. He suggested that we simplify the logo to make it appear more luxury, citing Louis Vuitton's minimalist LV mark as an example.

Week 10
I start researching about user manual layouts, collecting references, and creating possible sketches for manual layout

Week 11
I was still creating sketches for manual layout, mainly focusing on the best layout and flow for the user experience.

Week 12
I continued making my user manual design.

Week 13
I was still continuing on my manual design and searching up other possible designs that would fit best as well as adding some changes based on new ideas and feedbacks from peers.

Week 14
This week I finished up the manual layout design and I was told to make Roadside Buntings instead of billboard so I started doing that as well.

Week 15
Finished up roadside buntings and finalized all of the mockups as well as the compilations.

Final Output

REFLECTION

Through this module, I gained valuable insights into collaborating with people beyond my field of expertise. It proved to be an interesting experience as I interacted with people from the Czech Republic as well and worked together to develop a product aimed at assisting the elderly. Additionally, this opportunity allowed me to refine my abilities in graphic design. I did face struggles throughout this module, I was able to be active in the group halfway through the module, then I had trouble managing my time with other projects as well and a lot of doctor appointments in the last few weeks because of a personal matter. However, despite all the problems and setbacks that occurred throughout this module,  it's safe to say that this module is highly important and valuable to my personal growth and future.
