PROPOSAL
Week 1 : In this first week, we were assigned to form groups and to each choose a certain culture or art of interest that we want to bring awareness to. Our group decided on an Indonesian culture as we all came from Indonesia. We collectively agreed that we wanted to bring awareness on our country's culture, particularly batik. We originally had two options, either Wayang or Batik but turns out another group had chosen it, so we went for batik. Each group was also assigned a lecturer as a supervisor and we got Dr. Jinchi.
During the week, we worked on the theme, 200 words rationale, concept, as well as a minimum of 5 ideas that reflect on the concept that we have chosen. And at the end of the week, Dr. Jinchi is will be checking our progress regarding all the things we had to do that week.

Each of the group members then came up with their own preliminary ideas that reflects our concept.

As for digital stickers, they are becoming more frequent in this modern era and are exposed to a wider range of audiences rather than physical ones, people use them as a way to communicate or as an expression and so it will be a great way in reaching more audience to preserve this culture. It can also be a marketing strategy in promoting a brand with several other products preserving the batik culture as well. Batik-based designs on stickers will start awareness to the public, therefore creating a light to batik as an eternal culture.
Week 2 : In this second week, Dr. Jinchi gave us feedbacks regarding our progress, one of them being that we're not supposed to change the theme which is "Purpose". Other than that, we had some struggles on figuring out the research questions. Not to mention I myself have like zero experience in doing a proper research, so personally, I was struggling with understanding the overall system too. Thankfully some of the group members like Wendy and Wicelline have done a proper research before so they kind of guided and helped me and the others who don't quite understand yet. Dr. Jinchi also told us to combine all the preliminary ideas we each have created, which later on we agreed on creating a fashion line. She also suggested on creating our own batik patterns and helped us with ideas on how to do it. We ended up letting each of us sketch the pattern ideas we each have in mind.

So this batik pattern I came up with contains illustration of one of the most popular animals in Indonesia, orangutan. It iscreated with hints of batik and surrounded by forest elements as well as the famous Mega Mendung batik pattern. I name this Jenggala which means forest.
Week 3: This week, we were supposed to do a presentation on our proposal. We assigned different tasks in order to complete the research proposal.

• Techniques (Michelle)
• Types (Wendy)
• Motifs (Kenisha)
