TASK

Flip 1 : Redesigning Infographic

Research and Observation
Fig. x.x Poorly Constructed Infographic #1
I did some research on infographics and searched for some badly constructed infographics. I found this one poster about the top 5 shareholders of the world bank. From the overall poster, it can be seen that it really lacks colors and the choice of typeface on the title isn't the best since it's barely readable. I also think the choice of using piechart as the comparison is good but i think using patterns to indicate the different shareholders is not the best idea as it can be a bit confusing, colors or bigger patterns would be better. Also, percentage would be good since it'd be a bit confusing for the viewers to figure out the actual portions from only looking at the pie chart.

The second infographic is more of a promotion. From what can be seen in first glance, the colors doesn't look very appealing for a promotion.  All the pictures are darkened and I think it's to create a consistency on the color, but in my opinion it just makes the pictures unclear and too dark. The scale between the pictures and the text is too big and makes it unattractive in this case, and in my opinion. There were too many unnecessary statements which I think would be a bit boring for the viewers to read just to get to the main message of this poster. The arrangement also makes it look a bit messy and unclear, might take a while for the viewers to understand the flow of this infographic.

Design Process

I decided to remake the second infographic and searched for some templates on Canva that I think has the flow and arrangement that fits the infographic better.

FEEDBACK

Miss Anis told me the composition and visual hierarchy looks nice, but it would be better it I can find more similar illustrations, either no outline or with outline.
